President Barack Obama on Wednesday condemned the new sanctions imposed on Iran that he says are “unacceptable” for Iran’s nuclear program.
In a tweet, Obama said that “the Iranian regime has continued to ignore repeated calls to immediately and unconditionally cease its illicit activities.”
“The world will be watching, and we will act accordingly, to deter Iran from ever again undermining the international system,” he said.
“This new sanction regime is unacceptable and will be opposed by the world.”
The sanctions are part of the Trump administration’s efforts to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.
Iran has said it would not halt its nuclear program unless the United States lifted sanctions on Tehran.
